Wage Subsidy Services

Introduction

Based on funding available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), many states have established temporary wage subsidy grants which enable employers to utilize qualified new employees for a set time period.

Depending on the state and program, the subsidy

  1. May be a percentage of wages paid to qualified new employees or
  2. May pay the full wages of the worker while the company controls the work activity of the employee.

Typically, qualified employees are members of households with income at or below certain poverty levels.  In addition, many qualified workers hired under these programs qualify for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, or, in 2010, the HIRE Act Payroll Tax credit.
